Hospital Departments

Infection Control

The purpose of the Infection Control department is to ensure a healthy and safe environment for patients, health care workers and visitors in the hospital. It is our hope that we enhance awareness of infection control among all health care workers and reduce hospital associated infections to the lowest limit among patients and health care workers. Our main objective is to continue to achieve a KCCC environment that is free from infections.

Functions and duties of the Infection Control Department include surveillance of healthcare-associated infections (nosocomial infections) in the hospital as per current international standards. The training healthcare workers for infection control policies and procedures by arrangement of lectures with different departments and the Skills Development Unit is also a role of the department. Among other tasks, the department follows up on implementation of infection control policies and procedures through daily rounds to different wards, and all clinical departments.
